Good News: A Weekly Update from St Thomas Church—April 30, 2015
“Lord, when did we see you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something todrink? ... “ ”Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me...” Matthew 25:37, 40 The latest news from Nepal is grim – some 5,000 dead, villages, cities , roads, infrastructures in ruin following major earthquake. We pray for those in need, and for those working so desperately to meet those needs. Scripture reminds us that prayer and action go hand in hand.
For the last 75 years the Episcopal Church has worked to care for those in need through Episcopal Relief and Development. Even now, workers are in Nepal, doing what they can to see that resources, supplies and people are in place and working.
We can help with this work through donations to Episcopal Relief, either online through their website: www.episcopalrelief.org, or through the offering plate at St Thomas Church – please mark checks ‘Episcopal Relief’ or use the special envelopes available in the gallery. Your donations do make a difference.
And, as ever, please continue to pray for the people of Nepal, and for all who come to their aid, often putting their own lives in danger.
Let us pray:
Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Peace and blessing,
