Good News: A Weekly Update from St Thomas Church—July 31, 2014
From the prophet Isaiah we hear these words: Isaiah 55:1-5
Thus says the Lord:
"Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."
And in Sunday's Gospel we hear the account from Matthew of the feeding of the 5000 plus, where Jesus tells his disciples, "they need not go away -- you give them something to eat" and he takes the small amount they produce and feds the entire gathering -- with leftovers. There is food, and there is food. We need food that sustains the body, and we need food that sustains the soul. We need both – and as followers of Jesus, we are called to both receive and share both with open hands and open hearts.
Vacation Bible School begins on Monday and runs through Friday, 9:00 am to Noon each day. It is a wonderful time of music, crafts, games, food, and sharing the stories of our faith in fun and different ways. If you have children, or know children who might enjoy and benefit from such a time, please invite them or bring them along! Check out full information elsewhere in this message.
