Good News: A Weekly Update from St Thomas Church—July 31, 2014
In Paul’s letter to the Romans we read these words: "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. " (Romans 8:38,39). The challenge for us is that we need to accept that offer of eternal grace with loving and thankful hearts, and respond to his awesome promise by, in turn, living lives dedicated to serving Christ and those in the world around us in his name.
In the Southern Hemisphere many are celebrating "Christmas in July" because it's winter there now and many of the Carols make more sense in winter. For us, it can be a good time for giving of ourselves and our bounty. A few ideas: Food Pantry... Episcopal Relief and Development... the quarter tube... the Rector’s Discretionary Fund ... the charity of your choice... a small gift or a gift card given anonymously to someone you know could use it ... A bit of your time, your laughter, your presence...
Nothing will be able to separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. May we share that message every day.
Peace and blessing,
The Rev Canon Carol Horton
Rector, St Thomas Episcopal Church
