Good News: A Weekly Update from St Thomas Church—September 18, 2014
Sunday's Gospel is about the Vineyard owner who pays the workers who started early in the morning the same as he paid those who started late in the afternoon. Needless to say, some were delighted, but others were distressed. Jesus' reply? "The first shall be last and the last shall be first." Comforting for many, disconcerting for others. But then, God's grace is often so much more than we can understand. Where do you find yourself? You can read it all in Matthew 20:1-16. This quote from Albert Einstein offers some further insight: "A hundred times a day I remind myself that my inner and outer life depend on the labors of other people, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the full measure I have received and am still receiving."
-Albert Einstein 1879-1955
