Good News: A Weekly Update from St Thomas—December 27, 2016

Screen Shot 2014-01-21 at 2.51.46 PMAnita is enjoying some well-deserved time off, so there is no regular Good News from St Thomas this week. Please get information to her by next Wednesday for next week’s edition. In the meantime, I want to share some news concerning members of our parish family, and also reminders about upcoming events.

In this season of light and joy, we give thanks for God’s many blessings; some of the most profound blessings come to us in and through the people we love.

Yet we know that with joy and gladness there is often grief and loss. It with great sadness that I share with you two deaths:

Janice Ubry, mother of Michael Ubry and grandmother of Alex and Zach, departed this life unexpectedly in her sleep on December 26. Arrangements are by the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home in Pennington: visitation is on Friday evening from 6 to 8, and on Saturday from 10:30 am until the funeral at 11:00, also at the funeral home.

Ryan Barr, great-nephew of Kevin Kapples, departed this life unexpectedly in his sleep on December 26. Please be in touch with the Kapples family for information concerning funeral arrangements.

May light perpetual shine upon them, and may they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Let us pray:

Eternal Father, you gave to your incarnate Son the holy name of Jesus to be the sign of our salvation: Plant in every heart, we pray, the love of him who is the Savior of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Peace and blessing,
